Graph500 was conceived over dinner at Supercomputing 2009 in Portland as a more meaningful measure of computer performance. I launched first kernel with David Bader, Marc Snir, and an international steering committee of over 30 experts at SC10 in New Orleans after a year of R&D work. The benchmark has since grown to additional kernels.

The Chesapeake Large Scale Analytics Conference (CLSAC) was launched after a compelling talk given by Bruce Hendrickeson at the Conference for High Speed Computing (Salishan) in 2011. I spearheaded the first conference with John Feo, Rob Leland, and Candy Culhane in October of 2012.

In 2016, we introduced the George Cotter Award for Vision and Leadership in the field of data analytics.
